A Room for Looping

  • Old Firehall 1105 Front Street Whitehorse, YK Canada (map)

Part of Nakai's Pivot Festival, sponsored by Yukon Brewing

With Loop Sessions Whitehorse - LSW.015

Loop Sessions is a non-competitive sample flip challenge among beatmakers and producers, in over 30 locations around the world. Now in the Sun Room.

The Loop Sessions Whitehorse chapter held its inaugural event in December 2023; and since then has held monthly events at Baked Café, hosted by producers Kelvin, Jeremy Parkin, and Uncle Ev. Each event has been curated by someone new; be it a producer, a vinyl enthusiast, audiophile, or all the above. Visit @loopsessionswhitehorse on IG to hear what folks have created, and to find out when they’ll hold their next event!

Registration Appreciated

What exactly is a loop session?

1. Producers bring their own gear [drum machines, samplers, or computers with audio software; their respective power sources, and headphones] to make a beat using the curated sample

2. Set up your workstation, and collect the samples via USB drive transfer, recording a playback source, or downloading from online link (if participating from afar)

3. Create a 2min (max) instrumental

4. Share what you made during the showcase (if you'd like)

Can I show up just to listen?

Sure! But participants will be working on their creations until about 9:30 PM.

What if I need some help?

Because of capacity and resources, Loop Sessions do generally require you to be self sufficient; bring your own gear and be ready to use it! However, the magic of these nights is in conversations between participants, and learning from each other. If you're feeling sheepish, come with a friend and work together!
