Conrad Campground – Landscapes Theatre Part 5
On Wednesday August 21st, we left Whitehorse to camp for one night at Conrad Campground, outside of Carcross.
It was important while planning the residency that we included an element of camping, to actually immerse participants within an outdoor site away from urban areas and out of cell service, however complicated the logistics of sleeping, cooking, car-pooling and staying warm.
The extra effort was worth it. To our bush and river experiences, we added the Carcross desert, nearby lakes and the abandoned mining sites of Conrad. Morning walks and quiet investigations revealed potential performances. Social meals and campfires sparked new connections and further wisdom.
Jacob’s Process Notes:
To do different things, we have to do things differently
Erik Pinkerton joined us, as he had through-out the project, to photograph the process. We asked each participant to stage a portrait of themselves with Erik.
