Presenting the Tita Collective: The Spice Girls of Comedy
Co-presented with the Yukon Arts Centre
Tita Jokes is a Filipino musical comedy extravaganza: part Spice Girls concert, part sketch comedy, all love-letter to Titas, mothers, lolas, sisters and friends. The Tita Collective both lampoons and plays up Filipino stereotypes to deliver maximum hilarity. It’s a fast-paced, rollicking ride that will have you snort laughing halo-halo through your nose. While you don’t need to be Filipino to get the jokes, by the end of show, you just might wish you were.
Tita Collective is an all Filipina collective of multi-disciplinary artists based in Toronto: they are playwrights, comedians, musicians, dancers, theatre makers and actors. They like to explore different mediums to tell their story, the narrative of the Filipinx diaspora. Individually they are: Ann Paula Bautista (Grow: A New Musical), Belinda Corpuz (Ursa: A Folk Musical), Ellie Posadas (Scarborough), Alia Rasul (Moro Girl), and Maricris Rivera (Short Dances).
