Fall Training Opportunity!

Are you looking to spend time practising and growing with other performing artists?

Nakai is running a Fall Training Program to support professional development for performing artists in Whitehorse!  (Thanks to a grant from Canada Heritage’s Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund!)

We are looking for 6 committed people to participate in the 6 weeks of training and learning (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) and to lead one Saturday session. 

Training begins on October 15th, 2022 and ends on December 3rd, 2022. 

This is a paid opportunity ($1000 honorarium) focused on performing artists with some training and experience. 

Participants will also receive free participation in the 24hour Challenge on November 5th. 

There is also some funding for accessibility needs including child care

  • Any conflicts with the proposed training schedule.

Interested but can’t commit to the full time? Please still reach out as we will be opening up the morning training to registration in three week chunks for those interested in a lighter commitment.

Saturdays
Saturdays 10AM - 2 PM (9:30 - 2:30 bookings)

Starting October 15th, running until December 3rd
(no session November 5th due to 24 Hour)

WHAT WILL TRAINING LOOK LIKE?

Tuesday & Thursday mornings

Led by Jacob and are designed to: 

* Start our day off right.
* Building personal capacity and range.
* Creating shared experience and collaborative skills.

More from Jacob: The mornings will start with individual practice and move towards group work and improvisation. I will be drawing on my experiences in theatre and dance traditions including Release Technique, Image Work, Laban Efforts, Brain Gym, Viewpoints (Bogart & Overlie), Improv, Grotowski (via Linda Putnam), vocal and breath vitality and capacity (Fitzmaurice and Linklater.)

Saturday Workshop

The Saturdays are a chance to develop and deliver a workshop, sharing a skill or approach that you’re interested in teaching more. We’re happy to talk more about what this could look like.
